Inspiration... The Use of Umbrella

In the other countries, people use umbrellas as gorgeous decoration which brings visitors a lifelong memory.

What about in Hong Kong?

Inspiration ... What's happening in Umbrella Revolution? & So What's next?

" A freedom fighter learns hard way that it is the oppressor who defines the nature of the struggles and the oppressed is often left no recourse but to use methods that mirror those of the oppressor. At a certain point, they can only fight fire with fire" - Nelson Mandela

That is something which really touched my nerve when I read Long Walk To Freedom. The Umbrella Revolution reminds me of that quote.

As a Hong Konger, I am so proud of being involved in this "Revolution". We fight for "Real Democracy" through demanding for "Real Universal Suffrage". Several months ago, when discussing with my friends, I commented that Occupying Central would hardly happen. I underestimated it. There are a lot of things to be blamed, mourned for - unreasonably high housing prices, barbarian Chinese conquering HK...... People later on believe that selecting our own Chief Executive will be the only solution. Well, isn't it?

Even we have a new CE selected by local people, what's next? We still do not solve the fundamental problem - We Lack The VISION. WE NEED SOME GROUPS, LEADERS LEADING HK TO NEXT LEVEL, NOT JUST UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE.

Tearing HK people apart is not the correct direction. We need to be together and have same direction. That's the right approach.

I am so afraid that we are repeating the history - 4th of June, 1989. That's exactly the same. WE NEED PEACE AND LOVE IN HK.

Inspiration ... 9 Ways of How Family Should be in 21st Century

1. Each of the family member focuses on their own tablet/ smartphone during family gathering
2. We talk a lot in the family Whatsapp group instead of phoning each other
3. Even my mum / dad has Facebook account ( Maybe they stalk me sometimes)
4. When family members are at home, we normally do not talk except during dinner time. (Because everybody is playing on their own tablet / smartphone again)
5. 2 yr-old son/ daughter/ cousin is an expert in Angry Bird. However, he/she doesn't know how to play hide-and-seek.
6. We share photos on Facebook, Whatsapp. Sometimes we share the photos in slideshow on TV screen during family gathering, but no more photo album...
7. We still celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together. It is still the only night that kids can play until 12am officially
8. 90% of the kids in HK financially rely on their parents until 22 years old (Including me... What a shame), or even 30 years old.
9. Watching ridiculous TV Drama from TVB is still our favorite activity after dinner

Inspiration ... English is for EXAM or...?

In Hongkong, you can find the tutorial class advertisements here and there, at the MTR station, on the bus or a billboard hung outside the buildings. It's a common advert norm here.

On the extraordinary huge billboards, you will find some stars posting like the models in American's Next Top Models - Guys and Girls version. Descriptions are even more hilarious - saying graduated from business school in the top universities or native English speakers.Well, does it mean that graduate from business school will be a good English teacher?

The funniest thing is that high school students do believe that these tutors are the saviors for them in DSE. Is paying thousands dollars for English class worthy? When I was a secondary schoolmate, I agree on that as I know that it's the entry ticket to the universities and leading to a prosperous future hopefully. I thought that getting good result in public exam equals to success. How shallow I was.

When I think out of this examination game, I realize how ridiculous the game is. For sure English is important, but not only for the examination (which we had this rooted wrong concepts throuh the advert). The whole idea of mastering foreign languages is about how to connect to the global village which 90% of teenagers didn't think of this point. Honestly I really feel disappointed about it......

HK is an international city, students should have global insight, but not like a shallow idiot......

Inspiration ... 5 Tips to Do Advertisement in HK.

5 Tips to Do Advertisement in HK

(Not really tips... Just something I observe here .)
1. As HK is so damn crowded, be remembered to make use of the limited space
2. Posting advert up in the air is a good choice!
3. HK is an extremely prosperous city. Normal billboard may not be effective anymore. We are hungry to see some amazingly brilliant decoration, POSM.
4. BIG is important - though we know space is something hard to find here.
5. To face the huge competitor, you have to adapt to this robust speed and the environmental change here.

Inspiration ... South Asian Influence

When I visit South Asian countries, I like searching for home deco. But you know, we only have tiny space in HK, which means by no chance I can take some huge stuff back home. Therefore, I usually search for some tiny special pieces.
Mask is a symbolic item from Sri Lanka. Traditional mask is craved from light Balsa (some kind of wood), which is for dancing rituals. Plus, different masks represents different evils/ goddess, which I obviously have no idea the story behind the masks. Anyway, now, these kind of masks are sold on the street as touristic souvenirs. That's why I got one of it.
My boyfriend told me the god of this mask protect the family from bad mouthing.
Little elephant from Sri Lanka as well
Shell is very common in Asian country

Inspiration ... LOVE the OVERSIZE SHIRTS

I personally is a big fan of OVERSIZE SHIRTS. It's really amazing for those who are lazy as hell ( like me lol). You just need to match it with legging / skinny trousers / silk socks. No matter you have big booby or tiny breast, oversize shirts suit you well.
Chloe
Some people wear it with the big belt. I think it is a way to ruin the whole outfit. Because oversize shirt is a outfit which magically hide your big belly. It does make you look thinner.
3.1 Phillip Lim

Well... I do have some oversize shirts for sure...

On the way ... Antique Market in Hangzhou

Every time I do sightseeing, one of the must do items is to visit the Antique Market! Why? Because you can discover a lot of treasure. I had my old film camera,  vintage bags from these Antique Markets.

Of course, I know that these antique markets in China has high probability to sell fake items. To me, it doesn't really matter, cox I enjoy looking at these old colorful items. Do you visit Antique Market?

Inspiration ... Betrayal - Little story from the others

Finishing lunch with dad and mum today, subsequently we met a my kindergarten schoolmate's daddy, hereafter we call him C. After the greeting, he told us his wife left him this year. His wife passed away? Neh... It's that lady leaving him for another ugly dumb guy.

Yet, the story is way much more than a betrayal.......which made us entirely shocked......
That lady planned and took away all the busks they owned together since two or three years ago. Plus, that intruder is the lady's cousin... Well, now I realize that life can be that complicated.

The most terrible part is that regardless how many years they sleep together, C still have no clue what the lady is thinking about. Honestly, I cannot imagine that a partner can be so cunning to plan a trap for her ex-soul-mate.

Humm....... I know I am not the saint to judge their relationship. But for sure there must be some reasons for her to be malicious, which C didn't told us.

Here I realize and gain several lesson learnt:
1. Life can be that absurd and complicated... MAKE IT SIMPLE
2. People, even the one you love the most, might betray you one day ... WE NEED TO KNOW HOW TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY
3. Life is about cause and effect ... LOVE AND TREASURE EVERY PERSON YOUR MET, AND EVERYTHING. TREAT THE ONE YOU LOVE GOOD

Inspiration ... HANDMADE#1

Handmade items are always meticulous. It takes time and extra care to complete and refine. You must have own some precious handmade items for sure.

Today, I walked a small sports shop in Mong Kok. As you know that Mong Kok is kind of conquered by some chain sport shops which basically sell the same cheesy sneakers, it is rare to see a small sports shop offering real sports equipment.

In front of it, there was a middle aged man focusing on weaving the net of badminton racket. I think it is my first time to see people weaving the net of racket. My dad once told me that " The handmade weaved net on racket is more durable which help you play better". Therefore, he gave me that as a birthday gift when I was a kid ( Though I am not a good badminton player lol).

Handmade item now is getting rare and rare. It's kind of a treasure which nearly extincts, at least in Hong Kong. Have you found other rare handmade items here?

Inspiration ... Ming Tomb, Nanjing

I am a person who falls in love with old historical stuff and antiques, and of course... old Chinese architecture and culture and patterns. You can really see the style change of Chinese painting on the architecture.

Walking on the old path.... makes you feel like you can talk to the trees, which I entirely believe that those forest guardians are communicating... I can feel that!

Inspiration ... How / What you think really depends on...?

Well... Talking about thinking, I feel like I am not convincing enough to write a little column like this, as I am not really a logical person. But still, I wanna share about way of thinking.

Here is a little background of me. Apart from being a little blogger here, I of course have a boring routine job, which is not commercial industry. It's something about continuous improvement/ change management in a MNC factory. It's tough but challenging in the mean time. One thing I learnt thoroughly is the change of management style, to be exact it should be leadership style, really makes the change happen.

I and my teammate were debating the leadership style, while she is absolutely an aggressive & challenging & analytic & determined & leader-typed person. Looking at the perseverance in her eyes, listening to her talking about how leadership style should be, I immediately feel like... "wow! "

I told her that I don't have any managerial and leadership style. I don't spend a single second to think about how a leader or manager should be, nor what I will do once I have a team. I am not saying that I am incapable of being at that position, but it's just I am not really a career oriented person ( P.S. I would not write this little blog if I am like that).

Well... you should know that, by far, what I normally think or day dream is about basically about music, style, stylish design, life, relationship, snapshot, childish stuff... Ok... I am a day dreamer. Why do I always think about these areas? When I recall back, I was always exposed to the column, different types of music (chinese and western orchestra, Bee Gees, Pink Floyd, Carol King... plus my mum played Guzheng). I have never thought of something related to work indeed. However, my colleague is raised in the environment which all the seniors give advises related to managerial stuff/ leadership skills.

I just feel like... the way you think, area that you day dream/ think are influenced by your exposure and living environment for sure.

P.S. thanks my colleague, you make me understand myself a bit more.

Inspiration ... Thought after visiting Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall

Last weekend, I took a short vacation to Hangzhou and Nanjing. I have been to these two places twice already when I was a little kid. I was not allowed to enter the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall as it is too PG. However, I know that ... I have to go there ... in memory of the victims.

It's an magnificent museum. Those set-ups are brilliantly unforgettable - arousing your sentimental feeling completely. For example, there were photos of victims displayed randomly once every 12 seconds. It symbolizes a person was killed every 12 seconds during the tradegy. No matter how amazing the exhibition is, Chinese visitors still do not show their respect to it. Here is something that I don't understand is... why do Chinese throw coins on the set-up with pond? Anyway.

Frankly speaking, being a Chinese, you have a responsibility to understand this excruciating massacre and have a lesson learnt - the arrival of HARMONY is no easy task. Not to loathe, not to despise; but to remember it and learn from it.

I have to say, the brainwashing of the whole museum is greatly successful. I can still remember the no. of victims is 300,000, thanks to posting " Victims 300,000" everywhere. Well, there is no such heavy "advertisement" in other similar halls, such as the concentration camp site in Berlin. Showing the world the heart broken truth is civilian's responsibility. Yet, is this kind of heavy promotion needed? I totally understand that China is still waiting for Japanese official apology. Nevertheless, facts speak louder than anything.

Treasure the peace we have.

Inspiration ... You will find your way

During my university year, which is just a few years away, I have met a local HK boy who is utterly different from the typical HK teenagers. Just because of the uniquness - acting like a sociable ABC who is aggressive, outgoing and ambitious, we were mean to him. I feel sorry for the stupidity.

It was not as serious as school bullying. However, when I recall back the time in university, I keep on thinking about why we just excluded the heterogenous. It's because we were not humble enough to understand the others? Because we are Chinese, one of the most conservative species in the world? Are we not confident enough to embrace the others? Maybe our exclusive is one of the drives triggered him to find and know himself. He chose a different path.

As I have mentioned above, he is ambitious. Though I have no idea about his aspiration, but I admire his acts because he is paving his path. He made a deferral of his degree, got an internship and grad job in worldwide notable companies, travelling the world. That's why I say it's totally another world for the local teenagers.

Anyway, be persistent to yourself and good luck.

P.S It's my first time to use application to draw in tablet. lol

Inspiration ... We are gossip girl 1

When girl has a one on one trip with a guy, it makes sense that they will have something exceptionally fun during the trip. If not, the girl should make a reflection......?

I and my friends are gossip girls, buzz always bursts out from the Whatsapp group. Most likely, they are all about beauty/ gossiping. This is something interesting that I received lately.

Well, couple should have a lot of funnnn in trips for sure. Otherwise, how to maintain an healthy relationship? But friends, seriously? Won't they feel embarrassed / weird after having too much fun? Or it is already a custom here in this(my) generation?Or their positions are already categorized as FB? I have too much questions on my head.

May be I am just too outdated.
